Tinashe Releases New BB/ANG3L Album & Press Interviews on new Era

Since her first album Aquarius placed Tinashe on the map for everyone who like a murky alternative R&B song, it has been over 10 years. This is something she reflects on as she celebrates the release of her sixth studio album, BB/ANG3L, which comes out on Friday, Sept. 8.

Since Aquarius, she says, "I think I've matured a lot, and I'm just making whatever feels instinctual and trying not to overthink it." But when I listen to those songs, they still have a lot to do with where I am in life and what I'm experiencing.

This, she claims, is evidence of the cycles that recur throughout our lives and the truth that, despite the fact that we evolve and our viewpoints shift, "who we are at a core stays the same." Her newest album is about getting to the heart of the matter. After the success of her most recent singles, "Talk To Me Nice" and "Needs," Tinashe sees the BB/ANG3L album as a chance for her audience to get to know her better.

She chose a grocery store to film the music video for "Needs" because of this. She says she doesn't often love grocery shopping but has always had a fantasy of "running amuck," adding, "I wanted it to be intimate and feel a bit more day-to-day, in a way."

when a grocery store is closed. The approach on this record is highly personal. It doesn't seem gimmicky or like there are many extras. The basic emotion is all that matters.
