The Corrupt Nature of Terri Butler; OBH Brookdale Hospital's Financial Department Manager
In the midst of the ongoing Medicaid crisis within the healthcare marketplace & numerous individuals in dire need of assistance
Terri Butler - OBH Brookdale Hospital Financial Department Manager, in a staff group shot including the supervisor Mercya Edwards.
Today I’m gonna share my experience working at the OBH Brookdale Hospital in the financial department under the management of Terry Butler. She hired me as a credit interviewer / Financial investigator with the help of a talent specialist and to start on September 5th, 2025. This is following the succession of my Army contract that I worked under for two years. So at Brookdale Hospital, I started under a three month probation that somehow distinguished me from having to follow rules and other being unable to do what they want, even after being brought up in meetings. Things like cell phones been out on desk, food being visible, normal things. Well, on November 5, I was wrongfully terminated due to a lie Terri Butler made up saying I had my had laid down on the desk for 2 minutes. Never have I ever thought that I would run into such an evil, conniving, manager but it turns out she has a high-turnover rate of her hires said by an ex-coworker. When I had my head down, it was only for at least seven seconds. It was to take a couple of deep breaths, very precisely. She didn’t give me the financial investigative tools that I needed to look up patient’s demographics as most of the cases are in their accounts system I have no Address, phone number, Social Security number or any identifiers making you have to do further investigation through the giving applications that she never gave me access to.
There was so much training, classes and exams that needed to be passed in order to keep the position during the on board and process. Which makes it even more of such a shame to shutter someone so efficient at their job and loved in such a small amount of time by patients and staff after such investment of time and money using a lie and personal complexities it’s callous, a disservice to the community, and deserved being reckoned on a stage others have access to experience what I experienced.
Here I’ve quoted an excerpt from my Appeal Letter to OBH Brookdale Hospital Vice Precident of HR, Dahalia Jeffers.
“My coat was banned by manager Terri Butler saying that I couldn’t wear it walking around the hospital on the floor where the heater didn’t work and on a morning when it was 49° all with her even being told that patients were even complaining about the cold and the seats being too cold, asking for cushions to sit on. The coat was actually casual, professional and meant to keep you warm, the coat was not distasteful or anything. It was Autumn colored plaid & insulated. The manager Terri explained the heater on the 4th floor doesn’t actually work and that the place is a work in progress. I never was informed of my 30 day review like my co-worker was able to be participatory for her 30 day review. This would have been a fair interval of time to meet with me and advise of any leading termination thoughts on any “challenges” Ms. Terri Butler reasoned for the separation of my occupation at Brookdale Hospital as a Credit Interviewer. ”
The hospital initially denied any problems with the air conditioning system, which has reportedly been out for days.
The first comment under the video on YT reads:
@krystald18
I've been there many times. They saved my life and 2 of my children, too. This hospital, as of today, has gone downhill. Horrible waiting period, and some of the staff need to retire. Some staff members have bad attitudes, and others are gracious and hardworking. I'll pray that God works things out in our community. We need and deserve better!
Frustration continues to mount as many are questioning why the lack of air conditioning has been a problem for nearly a week.
So I appealed her decision to HR vice president and waited a very lengthy time for a response. I’m going to paste it in and also upload the letter both the letter of termination in the letter response from the vice president of OBH HR vice president.
Take a look below of the letter I composed and sent to OBH HR VP & beware if you ever come across her disguise in opportunity of a job!

APPEAL LETTER
Good day VP Dahalia Jeffers,
I'm writing you this letter today November 5th, 2025 acknowledging having paid Human Resources a visit to complain about my manager Terri Butler banning me from wearing my coat while I worked on a 49 degree morning with no working heat. This was on the morning of 10/16/2025 at 10:26am that I told my complaint to Ms. Pierrel with urgency while on my break.
Well sadly yesterday I received a termination letter from Ms. Terri Butler 15-minutes before it was time to clock-out. The manager who hired me to start in the Brookdale Hospital Financial Department as a Credit Interviewer on 09/08/2025, stopped me while working to ask me to come with her to her office. She explained in front of a lady that was sitting next to me that because of the "challenges" I've been having during my probationary period, the decision to allow my probation to continue or extend had been terminated. This was very shocking news considering my productivity rate, track record of being on time, and being good at the tons of things my workflow consists of (being told by my coworkers I assist, and supervisor). So I asked why, and she said she didn't want to go into detail but because of my lateness, mentioning the only 2 times I'd ever clocked-in past 8:30am my reporting time. The manager Terri continued to note that I didn't call the number for when you're going to be late for one of the late incidents which was the first one.
On Friday October 2nd, 2025 on the way to work, I'd held down my power button 3 seconds too long & accidently electronically locked it, a phone application unlocks it and my phone was broken truly. I have proof that I went back to the place that fixed it to correct something that they should've already done so I could unlock my scooter. It is my mobility and my transportation to work and I don't live close to the hospital. I come from a distance. So this took me 2 hours and 30 minutes to do and be clocked in for the day with my transportation unlocked to get myself home from work. The only person, me being in a panic, I thought to call was a coworker friend I knew would be in the office already to relay my current situation. I had no other numbers saved. The second and last time I arrived late was a time my phone battery was dead and I missed my alarm, I was an hour late that time and called the number Terri reminded me of from the incident prior. They were relatively close to each other but I had solutions for both to never happen again, I took the electronic lock feature off so I'd never need bluetooth to unlock it, and I got a second phone so that I always have a spare I'm rotating to never miss another alarm. I never was late again after that being early everyday.
Then Terri Butler continued on to mention "sleeping on the job" and I was hit to my core almost speechless with so much hurt, confusion, & disappointment because it's such a drastic fabrication from what actually happened. I don’t even believe that she herself would stand there for 2-minutes in silence watching me do such a ridiculously false claim. So I said "Really, me? Sleeping on the job? That's a complete lie." Ms. Terri Butler continued on to say, "So when I stood there for two minutes, and watched you with your head down on your desk, you don't call that sleeping on the job."
Sleeping on the job is not dropping your head to your arm for 6 to 8 seconds in animated fashion as a reaction to a case scenario I was investigating for health coverage. It merely was a silly reaction not me being debilitated from keeping my eyes open to work. That's when I knew something was extremely off and not right, the same feeling that made me actually go to HR about the coat. I've never in all my working career have never gone to HR about anyone or anything at any of my past jobs. When I lifted my head up after about 6 or 7 seconds, I looked back before saying what I was thinking and Terri was standing in the doorway looking down at her phone. But 2 minutes is a complete, 100% false statement and observation. I even truly encourage pulling the camera footage as I sit right in front of the patients waiting area, so there is no way I would accept defeat of myself and have my head dropped from 2 minutes let alone actually going to sleep. A lot of my accounts I was working that morning didn't have any demographics for the patients for me to work from, so I was simply sighing and shutting my eyes in my arm to just take a couple deep breaths that is 100% the truth and I can prove it if the camera surveillance can be shown. Something is deeply concerning with her enforcement complexities. My insurance webportal accesses were not even given to me for my financial investigations, just a very very small few. Tools that we're not assigned to me by the manager who's the only person who has the access to do it. For instance the FinThrive webportal that will give a response back with missing demographic information for the patient to update their accounts & conduct proper investigation and communication had yet to be given to me even all the way up to me being terminated.

It seems like some kind of enforcement complex that Ms. Terri Butler has, that she herself said she could use some correcting improvement on, acknowledging her own challenges. She said it in a meeting that she had with me and supervisor Mercya. We were having a meeting because I introduced myself to the coworker Terri had been telling me about since she interviewed me because we will be alternating weekends also so I was really happy to introduce myself but I can't say the same for this co-worker she did not like me right off the back because she didn't want to have to train me and take time out of her busy fast Track ER workflow. She relayed swiftly to the manager Terri saying that I was abrasive and aggressive. All because I asked what is wrong with me using the word mirroring in relation to our work and she contested that she just doesn't like it. That the word mirroring each other doesn't apply to her and what she's doing. This is even though we're both slated to work Emergency Room Outpatient Medicaid, with alternating weekends. Then Terri resolved with noting there are different cultures where words could offend & that any further communication with this coworker would be through the supervisor Mercya.
I truly feel that this was an unfair termination and looking to appeal, even my supervisor said to me "wow you really like this job huh, and what your doing?". Always answering yes in glee because it's true, I would've never seen me being terminated coming because I never slept, ever, I never was late again, and there's things that the manager will say in a meeting full of coworkers, that she'll back track from admitting she said when we're alone. Then when I double checked back with multiple coworkers about if I may have misheard what I thought I heard her say in the meeting was what she said we could do, I'm told she did say that clear as day and that I was correct. This was the same meeting that she stressed over and over how "I like to fly UNDER THE RADAR, WAY DOWN HERE!"
WellI hope that this can shed some light on why I believe I should have the right to be heard and to be able to return to work. In these extremely difficult times where the government is shut down for 34 days and counting, the economy is unforgiving, health insurance is changing for the worse, it's mind boggling that a manager would be this implausible, and terminate my employment in such an appalling light.
Thank you for your time, consideration, and any further details you need feel free to reach out to me. My cell phone number is 347-886-8171, I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Warm wishes,
Christopher Benson”
Below is the response sent back from OBH Brookdale HR Vice President Dahalia Jeffers:
“Re: Appeal Letter
Dear Christopher Benson,
This letter is in response to your letter dated November 5, 2025. I have reviewed your information on file and OBH- BHMC’s policy on the grievance procedure; performance evaluations are not covered under the grievance process. Your were hired on September 8, 2025 and terminated on November 5, 2025. This time was your probationary period with the Hospital and the time period used to evaluate your performance in the credit interviewer position. Due to an unsatisfactory review/evaluation and failure to pass the required standards for the position you were terminated. Therefore, based on the OBH-BHMC grievance procedure policy this request for an appeal to your termination is denied.
Sincerely,
Dahlia Jeffers
