Doechii Adds “CATWOMAN” to Her Revived Swamp Sessions
Doechii’s October 20 video follows “BOMBS,” with production from Real Bad Man and Kal Banx and direction shared with Carlos Acosta.
Doechii has released “CATWOMAN,” the latest entry in her Swamp Sessions series. The video arrived on her official YouTube channel October 20, extending a return to the format after “BOMBS” earlier this month.
The official upload, titled “CATWOMAN | Swamp Sessions,” runs two minutes and 28 seconds. Its credits name Real Bad Man and Kal Banx as the track’s producers, with Doechii and Carlos Acosta sharing directing duties. Acosta also edited the video, while Natasha Abdul served as director of photography and Adele Drive handled production.
A familiar setting, then a change
Universal Music Japan’s October 21 announcement identifies “CATWOMAN” as the second release since the series restarted. The label places “BOMBS” on October 12, making the new video a follow-up eight days later rather than a standalone return after a long silence.
The announcement draws a connection to “CATFISH,” one of Doechii’s earlier Swamp Sessions releases. It describes a desert setting and a white top with denim that recall that video, before a black-clad version of the rapper appears and destroys the earlier version in a staged explosion.
That sequence gives the return to familiar imagery a dramatic turn. The label interprets it as a move toward a new phase, using an image from Doechii’s past work and then breaking it apart. It is a fictional music-video scenario, with the artist playing multiple versions of herself.
The team behind the new session
The directing credit makes Doechii an author of the visual as well as its performer. The official description also lists Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith and Anthony “Moosa” Tiffith as executive producers, alongside additional production credits for Langston Griffith-Siebens and Jolene Mendes.
Those names help distinguish the release from an anonymous short clip circulating on social media. The artist’s own channel supplies the title, date and creative team in one place, allowing viewers to watch the work with its credits intact.
Stereogum’s report highlights the video’s compact, cinematic approach and its abrupt dramatic development. The outlet also cautions that it is not clear whether the material represents a full song or an excerpt. The upload can be enjoyed as a complete video without assuming it reveals the final form of a future album track.
Swamp Sessions moves forward
Cyclolore covered Doechii’s return with “BOMBS” earlier this month. “CATWOMAN” adds a new release to that story, with a separate title, credited production team and visual premise.
The series already has an important place in her catalog. Universal Music Japan notes that “CATFISH” and “NISSAN ALTIMA” emerged through Swamp Sessions before appearing on Alligator Bites Never Heal. That history helps explain why new installments draw interest as listeners wait to see where Doechii goes next.
Billboard Brasil’s coverage places “CATWOMAN” amid anticipation for her debut studio album and points to the track’s references to Busta Rhymes, Sean Connery and 2Pac. Those references put established figures from rap and popular culture inside the new session’s world.
For now, the confirmed release is the video itself. “CATWOMAN” gives Swamp Sessions another chapter after “BOMBS,” while leaving the larger project’s shape open. Viewers can follow the official upload without treating the character change as a confirmed album title, tracklist or release date.

A song can begin with a technical breakthrough, a wish to lift someone's spirits, or a feeling that has waited long enough to be expressed. For Christopher Benson, who makes music as ChrisB, those impulses help explain The Right Time, Money's Calling You and Diamond in the Rough.
