Nicki Minaj Initiates 'Pink Friday 2' Era with 2023 VMA Performances

The Pink Friday 2 era has begun, and Nicki Minaj got things going at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards by showing off her more sensitive side.

The rapper surprised the screaming fans at New Jersey's Prudential Center with a very emotional performance, performing two songs off the planned follow-up to her adored 2010 debut album, Pink Friday. With her most recent track, "Last Time I Saw You," Minaj opened the performance. She sung the rap ballad while holding a jeweled microphone stand. The actress wore an oversized black coat with ruffles, which she partially removed to expose her bodysuit below, which was fully transparent and displayed her black bra and undergarments.

After the slow song, Minaj gave a brief preview of an unfinished song before switching to a classic rap tune reminiscent of her early mixtapes. As she questioned if they were prepared for the impending release, the audience cheered.

Dolce & Gabbana's pale pink bridal Barbie ensemble, which included a strapless satin bodysuit, a transparent lace mermaid skirt, and a matching see-through veil with lace trim, was worn by Minaj earlier tonight when she made her comeback to the red carpet. She added flowery earrings and a variety of diamond jewelry to her accessories, and her outfit was finished with long, jeweled pink nails.

This summer, the "Moment 4 Life" rapper revealed that her fifth studio album would be released on November 17. The celebrity thanked her followers on Instagram for their support and made a vague mention of a tour, promising to reveal more information as Pink Friday 2 neared its debut.
